JL King, a New York Times best selling author, publisher, columnist, HIV/STD activist and philanthropist. His works include best selling books on the nature of human behavior and guides on the effects of health issues on minorities; and, sexual orientation and its impact on schools. King’s first book, "On the Down Low: A Journey into the Lives of 'Straight' Black Men Who Sleep With Men," appeared on The New York Times Top 10 best seller list for more than 30 consecutive weeks.

King continues his crusade to shed light on the down-low phenomenon with the release of his sensational new novel, “Love on a Two-Way Street.” The novel chronicles the encounters of a music mogul who is on a quest for money and power, and will do anything for them. In line with King’s mission of awareness, health, healing and education King has released three DVDs, “The Top 10 Signs of Down Low Behavior and More…,” "How to Become a Successful and Selling Author" and the sequel “No More Secrets, No More Lies: Saving our Daughters.” His education resource book, “Sexual Orientation and its Impact on Schools: A Guide for Middle and Secondary Educators” was well accepted and a feature at the National Alliance for Black School Educators (NABSE) conference [ [http://nabse.org/conference/King.asp National Alliance of Black School Educators ] ] and the annual Social Justice conference presented by Clark Atlanta University (CAU).

King is the publisher of Urban Moon Publishing a comprehensive self publishing company founded in 2001 that focuses on increasing the influence of minority writers in the literary industry. King conducts annual workshops: Write Your Way Through (WYWT) writers conferences, Transforming your Dreams into Words workshops and seminars that links aspiring writers, seasoned authors, media and communications experts in intense information exchange sessions; and, the Healthy Relationship Institute, workshops that focuses on love, relationships, health and wellness.

In addition to hundreds of television features King has appeared in more than 150 [inter] national publications ranging from Newsweek and Time Magazines to The Washington Post and The Chicago Tribune. He has appeared as a special guest on more than 100 broadcast and television shows to include: The Oprah Winfrey Show, Inside Edition and CNN. King has been listed in Ebony Magazine’s 50 most Intriguing Blacks and honored as an NAACP Image Award Nominee for Outstanding Literary Work.

King’s candid account of relationships: marriage, separation and intimate involvements with the opposite sex continues to stimulate research, academic fora and catalogs of television series, books and documentaries on , “Straight” Black men who sleep with men. In 2006 King produced, “The DL Exposed” an award winning documentary that was broadcasted on Black Entertainment Television (BET). The documentary was the number one watched program on BET that year.

Due to his contributions to the literary world, King has been the keynote speaker at approximately 250 education, health and faith based organizations to include: Tuskegee Institute, Harvard, Howard, Princeton, Alabama A&M, Southern, Florida A&M and Tulane Universities; African American Conference for HIV/AIDS, Center of Disease Control and NABSE. His candid and realistic approach to majority issues and minority concerns and, commitment to multiculturalism has made King one of the most influential Americans. King earned a BS degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and served eight (8) years in the United States Air Force (USAF).
