Jim Picka

Jim Picka was born on March 24, 1947. He attended Parkville High School until he left for High Point University. Once there he averaged 17 points a game and 11 rebounds as the starting center for the Panthers over the course of his career. In his senior season he averaged 27 points a game and 18 rebounds a game. He was drafted in the 10th round of the 1969 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics. He was assigned to play for the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Celtics. He retired a week later, due to an ankle injury. Some of his career highlights include beating an undefeated Winston-Salem State team led by future Hall-of-Famer Earl Monroe and his career best, scoring 32 points. He currently resides in Cockeysville, Maryland.
