Valley of the Kings is the tomb ofYuya and his wifeTjuyu , the parents of QueenTiye , the wife ofAmenhotep III . It was discovered in February1905 byJames E. Quibell . Quibell was sponsored byTheodore M. Davis , who published an account of the excavation in1907 .Until the discovery of
Tutankhamun 's tomb this was the richest and best preserved tomb found in the valley, and the first to be found with major items "in situ". Located in a small branch of the main valley between two laterRamesside tombs, KV46 contained the mostly intact sarcophagi of Yuya and Tjuyu. It had been robbed in antiquity (probably at the time of the construction of the later tombs).References
