Sultaniya

Sultaniya is a village about 30 km from Jaipur in Phagi tehsil, in the state of Rajasthan, India. This is a small village; the population of around 900 largely consists of farmers, who are very dependent upon the rains. Years where the rain fails can bring hardship, but the people survive through their livestock, and selling milk.

In the village there are many castes like Meena, Rajput, Gurjar, Daroga, Brahmins, Muslims and Bhaitwa etc. However, available education is poor because there is a school only up to 8th class. Whilst this does not generally pose a problem for boys, girls tend to study up to 8th only, as their parents do not allow them to study in other village. There is a Senior school in Phagi but it is far away from this village.
