Floating wind turbine

Floating wind turbine

The world's first full-scale floating wind turbine is to be built by Norwegian oil and gas producer StatoilHydro at a cost of some 400 million crowns ($80 million). The investment includes a 2.3 megawatt wind turbine and research and development of the offshore windmill concept. The startup of the turbine off Norway's west coast is planned for late 2009.
