Axel (coord|51|16|N|3|55|E|type:city(7421)) is a town in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Terneuzen, and lies about 31 km southeast of Vlissingen. It received city rights in 1213.

In 2001, the town of Axel had 7421 inhabitants.
