She played quiz bowl at both Princeton and Berkeley. [ [http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~quizbowl/photos.html Berkeley Quizbowl Pictures] ] [ [http://www.princeton.edu/~cbowl/galleryold.html Princeton Quizbowl Pictures] ] On August 3, 2002, she married her quiz bowl teammate Jeff Hoppes. [ [http://groups.yahoo.com/group/quizbowl/message/9952 Yahoo! Groups ] ] Prior to Princeton, she helped lead her high school science bowl team to national competition, for which she specialized in geology and the life and times of Rear Admiral Hyman G. Rickover.

She is one of three members of her family to have played on the show, all between 2004 and 2008, and the only winner of the three.

Her husband, Jeff Hoppes, first appeared in November 9, 2004, becoming KJL #140, the 140th victim of Jeopardy! all-time champion Ken Jennings. Her sister Arianna appeared on the January 23, 2008 episode, but her result was nullified by CBS Standards and Practices for questionable calls by officials during game play. Six weeks after Larissa's run ended, Arianna was brought back for another episode (airing July 8, 2008) to make up, and finished second, just like her brother-in-law.
