Kartik Poornima

Kartik Poornima

Kartik Poornima celebrated on the 15th of the Full moon day of Kartik (November-December). Kartik is the eighth lunar month of the Hindu year when the sun is Krittika or Pleiades. Kartik is perhaps the holiest of all the months in the Hindu calendar characterised by many religious festivals. In Varanasi on this day, the ghats come alive with thousands of diyas (brightly-lit earthern lamps), this unique festival celebrated in Varanasi is called Dev Deepavali. The Kartik Purnima festival also coincides with the Jain light festival and Guru Nanak Jayanti.
