Edgar Krahn (

Laiuse ,Estonia , as a member of the Baltic German minority. He died in Rockville,Maryland , USA.Krahn studied at the
University of Tartu and theUniversity of Göttingen .He graduated at Tartu in 1918, received hisdoctoral degree at Göttingen in 1926, withRichard Courant as his advisor [MathGenealogy |id=59050] , and hishabilitation took place at Tartu in 1928.He is co-author of the
Rayleigh-Faber-Krahn inequality [http://eom.springer.de/r/r130040.htm Rayleigh-Faber-Krahn inequality] .Krahn worked in Estonia,
