Metro Éireann is Ireland's multicultural newspaper. It is published by Metro Publishing and Consultancy Limited.
History
The tabloid-format paper was established by two Nigerians , Chinedu Onyejelem and Abel Ugba in April 2000. Onyejelem, originally from Imo State, now edits the newspaper and is the only full time member of staff.
While originally a monthly publication, it expanded and became weekly in 2006 before becoming a fortnightly in 2010 due to mismanagement and the economic climate.
Reports on Racist / Intercultural / Multicultural activities.Fails badly in advising Immigrants on adapting to their new environment - it's customs and habits. The newspaper publishes articles both in Irish and English, and news on centres for immigrants in Ireland, with a strong focus on Africans.Its contributors have included Roddy Doyle, Brian Kerr, Aodhán Ó Ríordáin, Ronit Lentin, Robert Carry and Yvonne Healy .The newspaper has a fortnightly circulation of 5,000.
