Pandrup is a town in
North Jutland County on the northwest coast of theJutland peninsula in northernDenmark . Until2007 , Pandrup was also the main town of the Pandrup municipality (Danish, "kommune").Pandrup Municipality
The Pandrup municipality covered an area of 190 km², and had a total population of 10,676 (2005). Its last mayor was Flemming Jansen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. By
January 1 ,2007 Pandrup municipality ceased to exist as the result of "Kommunalreformen" ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with existingBrovst ,Fjerritslev , andAabybro municipalities to form the newJammerbugt municipality . This created a municipality with an area of 863 km² and a total population of 38,864 (2005). The new municipality belongs to the newRegion Nordjylland ("North Jutland Region"). The main town and the seat of its municipal council was the town of Pandrup. Other towns and villages within the municipality wereBlokhus , Hune, Saltum,Kaas , Vester Hermitslev, Ingstrup, Moseby and Jetsmark.Neighboring municipalities were
Brovst to the southwest,Aabybro to the south,Brønderslev to the east, andLøkken-Vrå to the northeast. To the west was Jammer Bay ("Jammerbugt "), and beyond that theSkagerrak , thestrait that separates Denmark fromNorway .The municipality's principal industries include tourism, agriculture and electronics.
