Ava Muhammad

Ava Muhammad Born 1951, Columbus, Ohio; Married Darius Muhammad, 1988. Education: Graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, 1975. Memberships: Member of the New York Bar Association. A Lawyer, Minister and also the National Spokesperson for the Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam. Ava Muhammad is the first women Minister in the history of the NOI. In the Islamic world women are not allowed to become ministers, But Minister Louis Farrakhan change that when he made Ava Muhammad the first woman Islamic Minister in the world in 1998. Ava Muhammad is the highest-ranking woman in the history of her religion. Her current job is among the most prominent in the nation--a post formerly held by Malcolm X and current Nation leader Louis Farrakhan--and since 1998 she has also served as minister of the Atlanta mosque, one of the country's largest. Minister Ava Muhammad is also a member of the Muslim Girls Training (MGT). The Nation of Islam only have one other known female Minister, Donna Farrakhan Muhammad.
