- Cannonball Run 2001
Cannonball Run 2001 was a
reality television series broadcast on theUSA Network in 2001. It was inspired by theCannonball Baker Sea-To-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash , an outlaw road race of the 1970s which was the source for the famousCannonball Run movies. The show featured a series of five location-specific challenges along aNew York toLos Angeles course, as in the original race. Development of the series started without the participation ofBrock Yates , organizer of the original Cannonball and holder of the trademark. The production company reportedly paid Yates for the use of the name just before the show aired. Yates was not pleased with the reality version of his race because he felt it was fake and staged. In 2005, Yates teamed up with Cannonball driver and film producer, J. Sanchez of Catalyst Entertainment to produce another reality series called "Cannonball: This is reality". It is understood that this new series will run alongside the actual
One Lap of America race. In 2006 the project was again shelved as J. Sanchez went on to organizing his own event; The Fireball Run Transcontinental Rally ran in 2007. The rally was filmed in HD and scheduled for release in 2008. J. Sanchez has been featured on MTV, CNBC, MSNBC, and CNN. He is a nationally respected marketing expert.External links
