- Genesee Park
The land for Genesee Park was initailly purechased in 1912 and was complete by 1926. It is the largest park in the
Denver Mountain Parks system with a total of convert|2402|acre|km2. The park stradlesInterstate 70 inColorado between exits 252 and 254 and is located along theLariat Loop Scenic & Historic Byway . On I-70 just West of exit 254, there are scenic overlooks for both directions for viewingBison andElk . The park countains two mountains, Genesee Mountain at convert|8284|ft|m above sea level and Bald Mountain at convert|7988|ft|m above see level. Even with its tall elevation, the entirety of the park is below tree line, creating an ideal place forponderosa pines ,Douglas Fir s,Lodgepole Pine s,quaking Aspen s andbristlecone pines . The park is also home to a largeBison herd living on the maintained pastures on the north and south sides of I-70. A large lodge was built at the top of Bald Mountain in 1915 and serves as a historical point of interest for Genesee Park.External links
