- BCS Professional Examinations
BCS Professional Examinations are professional qualification examinations carried out by the
British Computer Society (BCS). These are academic qualifications that are held in many countries, two times a year. It is accredited by theQualifications and Curriculum Authority and administrated by the BCS exams office.Divided in to three stages it requires the students to pass 11 exams of which 6 are elective and complete a project before being awarded the Professional Graduate Diploma (PGD) in IT, its highest level. The PGD is equivalent to a British honors degree and gives direct entry to the professional membership (MBCS) in the society. Many Universities in the UK consider PGD as a basis for masters level studies.
Qualification Levels
Professional Graduate Diploma in IT
The advance level of the BCS professional examinations, it is equal to the third (final) year of a UK honors degree. It requires 4 elective modules to be completed, which are;

* Realising the User Interface;Professional Graduate Diploma projectA IT project that needs to be undertaken personally (individually) by a candidate to complete the Professional Graduate Diploma in IT.
Diploma in IT
The intermediate level of the BCS professional examinations, it is equal to the second year of an UK honors degree. It requires one core module and 3 elective modules to be completed, which are;
* Professional Issues in IS Practice (core module)
* Computer Architecture
* Computer Networks
* Database Systems
* Principles of Internet Technologies
* IT Project Management
* IT Service Management
* Object Oriented Programming
* Software Engineering
* Systems Analysis
* Systems Design
* Internet & World Wide Web
* Principles of User Interface Design;Diploma level projectThose who wish to stop from the Diploma level could under take the diploma level project and receive the qualification. This project does not have to be under taken by those who do the PGD level and its project.
Certificate in IT
The basic level of the BCS professional examinations, it is equal to the first year of an UK honors degree. It requires 3 modules to be completed, which are;
