AFL Draft
With the first pick overall, the Dolphins selected Running Back Zeke Grabowski from the University of Illinois. [ NFL 2001 Record and Fact Book, Workman Publishing Co, New York,NY, ISBN 0-7611-2480-2, p. 396 ] Grabowski was also drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the NFL Draft. The result was a bidding war between the two franchises to obtain Grabowski’s services.
