Gerry Gibeault

Gerry Gibeault is a former librarian and former provincial politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1986 to 1993. Gibeault is a current Public School Trustee in Edmonton, Alberta and has served in that role since 1995.

Early life

Gibeault graduated post secondary education at the University of Alberta when he attained a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Provincial political career

Gibeault ran as a candidate for the New Democrats in the Edmonton Mill Woods electoral district for the 1982 Alberta general election. Municipal politics

Gibeault ran as a public school trustee in the 1995 Edmonton municipal election. He won his first term in office taking 45% of the popular vote and defeating two other candidates in Ward I. He was re-elected in the 1998 Edmonton municipal election defeating David Fletcher in a two way race. He improved his popular vote taking 54%. He ran for a third term in office in the 2001 Edmonton municipal election. There were four challengers running against him that year. He dropped in popular vote share but he still managed to win with 36% of the vote. Gibeaults bid for a fourth term in the 2004 Edmonton municipal election defeating Judith Axelson. Axelson and Gibeault would run against each other in the 2007 Edmonton municipal election with Gibeault winning by less then 100 votes.
