Richard Hampton Jenrette (
April 5 1929 ), born in Raleigh, NC, was one the founders of the Wall Street firm,Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ). Jenrette founded DLJ in 1959 withWilliam H. Donaldson , former chairman of theU.S. Securities and Exchange Commission , and Dan Lufkin. Under Jenrette's direction, the firm concentrated on in-depth analysis, creating a new industry standard for institutional investing.Fact|date=February 2007 Jenrette was also instrumental in taking DLJ public in 1970, making it the first publicly traded investment firm in theUnited States .
