Baron Cobbold, of Knebworth in the County of Hertford, is a title in the
Peerage of the United Kingdom . It was created in 1960 for the banker Cameron Cobbold. He wasGovernor of the Bank of England from 1949 to 1961. As of 2007 the title is held by his son, the second Baron, who succeeded in 1987. He is one of the ninety elected hereditary peers that remain in theHouse of Lords after the passing of theHouse of Lords Act 1999 , and sits as a cross-bencher.
