Grier School For Girls is an all girls
boarding school located inTyrone, Pennsylvania nearPenn State University . Founded in1853 , the school is known for its school symbol, a green and white shield with apine tree . The school lies at the heart of theAppalachian Mountains [http://www.grier.org/map.htm map] and currently enrolls students in grades 7 to 12.As of 2005 , there were 195 students enrolled from 22 states and 18 foreign countries. The girls come from a variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds. The annual tuition is $40,000 although some students receive financial aid. The school moto is "Sana Mens In Corpore Sano"," meaning "Sound Mind in a Sound Body".The Grier School is also host toAllegheny Camp during the summer months, in which a number of boarders also attend.Sports
