Ramin Farahmandpur

Dr. Ramin Farahmandpur was born in Iran. He moved to the United States in 1974 and returned back in 1979. In 1984, after he graduated from high school, he left Iran and moved to the United States. He completed his Bachelor's degree in philosophy (1993) and his Masters degree in Social Foundations of Education (1994) from [http://www.calstatela.edu/ California State University, Los Angeles] .

Teaching career

From 1994 to 1997, and in 2004-2005, Dr. Farahmandpur was a middle school teacher in the [http://notebook.lausd.net/portal/page?_pageid=33,47493&_dad=ptl&_schema=PTL_EP Los Angeles Unified School District] .

Academic career

Dr. Ramin Farahmandpur is an Assistant professor in the [http://www.pdx.edu/epfa/ Department of Educational Leadership and Policy] in the [http://www.pdx.edu/education/ Graduate School of Education] at [http://pdx.edu/ Portland State University] . Professor Farahmandpur studied and completed his Ph.D. in Curriculum Theory and Teaching Studies from the [http://www.gseis.ucla.edu/ Graduate School of Education and Information Studies] at the [http://www.ucla.edu/ University of California, Los Angeles] . His research focuses on the relationship between schools and society. More specifically, Dr. Farahmandpur's work examines how social, political, economic and cultural forces shape and influence public education. He has written and published extensively on a wide range of issues and topics, including multicultural education, neoliberalism, imperialism, globalization and [http://mingo.info-science.uiowa.edu/~stevens/critped/page1.htm critical pedagogy] .
