Palmyra-Macedon High School (Pal-Mac) is a public high school in Palmyra,NY and is part of the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District which serves the communities of Palmyra, NY, Macedon, NY, and Yellow Mills. Pal-Mac's principal is Barbra Persia. The school colors are red and white.

School Informaion

Academics

Pal-Mac contains grades nine through twelve with classes administered by 90 full time teachers. 2007-2008 enrollment was 568, and total enrollment is consistently within the 500-700 student range even though Macedon is a quickly growing community. On average 80%-90% of Pal-Mac students graduate with a Regents Diploma. Pal-Mac offers many Honors, AP, IB, and FLCC duel-enrollment courses.

IB Programme

Palmyra-Macedon High School has been an IB World School since July 2002. It offers the IB Diploma Programme.

Pal-Mac Sports

The Pal-Mac athletic nickname is the Red Raiders. The former mascot was an Indian, but amidst local concern the Indian mascot image was removed from the athletics programs. Many students participate on the traditional Varsity sports teams available including Football, Cheerleading, Cross-Country, Golf, Soccer, Swimming, Volleyball, Basketball, Wrestling, Baseball, Softball, Lacrosse, Tennis, and Track & Field. There are also many Junior Varsity and Modified sports programs. Pal-Mac sports teams participate in the Finger Lakes League.

PMFC

The Palmyra Macedon Football Club (PMFC) is the adopted club name of the soccer program at Pal-Mac. It was established in 2000. With the increasing reputation of the Pal-Mac soccer program, the number of fans of the PMFC has also grown. The self-proclaimed PMFC hooligans have obtained an infamous reputation for rowdy behavior and great team spirit.

Pal-Mac Music

The Pal-Mac Music department consists of two instrumental bands, and two vocal performance groups. The Wind Ensemble is the highest level band and the Select Choir is the highest level chorus.

Select Choir

Palmyra-Macedon is well known for it's Select Choir. Students who excel in vocal and musical ability may audition for a limited position in the Select Choir widely recognized as one of the best high school vocal groups in the area. The Select Choir usually achieves an award of Gold with Distinction at NYSSMA festivals. Jill Long is the current Choir Director.
