Their defense later forced a safety, to make it 7-5. Zendejas kicked another 22 yard field goal to give Arizona State its first lead of the game at 8-7.Stanley Wilson scored on his second rushing touchdown of the game to give Oklahoma a 13-8 lead. Zendejas answered with a 54 yard field goal before halftime, to cut the lead to 13-11, Oklahoma.
