The above information regarding Francesco "Frank" Todaro is incorrect and the website sourced has been previously notified.
Francesco "Frank" Todaro was born in the area of San Cipirello, Palermo Province, Sicily in about 1889. Son of Giuseppe Todaro and Giuseppa DiMaggio. Frank Todaro along with brothers Carlos "Charlie", Giuseppe "Joe", and Salvatore "Sam" immigrated to the US in 1907 and settled in New Orleans, La. [1920 Federal Census - New Orleans] Another brother Angelo remained in San Cipirello. Frank was married to Nunzia "Nancy" Giammalva on July 14th 1914 in New Orleans [New Orleans Marriage Records] and they had four children two sons, Joseph and Clement, and two daughters, Jacqualine and Josephine.
Frank Todaro was alleged to be underboss or "Capo" in the New Orleans mafia and to have briefly served as head of the New Orleans family before his death. Further it has erroneously been reported that he was the father-in-law of reputed Dixie Mafia boss Carlos Marcello. Carlos Marcello was in fact married to Frank Todaro's niece Giacomina (Jackie) daughter of his brother Joseph and Florence Giamala.
The information of Frank being murdered allegedly by or on the orders of Sylvestro "Silver Dollar Sam" Carrolla is also false. Frank Todaro died at his residence on S. Broad Street in New Orleans at 5:45 am on Wednesday November 29th, 1944 from complications related to throat cancer. He was about 55 years of age. His funeral was held on December 1, 1944, the wake was conducted at Lamano-Panno-Fallo Funeral Home, a mass of Christian burial was held at St. Mary's Italian Church and he was interred at Metairie Cemetery.
