lake in theMasurian Lake District of north-easternPoland , inWarmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It lies approximately convert|5|km|mi east of the town ofMikołajki , close to the north-western corner ofŚniardwy , Poland's largest lake. Łuknajno covers an area of convert|6.8|km2|sqmi, and has a maximum depth of convert|3|m|ft.The lake is the site of a nature reserve, and since 1977 has been designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and Ramsar site, in view of its importance as a breeding ground for water birds. It is part of the larger
protected area known asMasurian Landscape Park .External links
