Played forLos Angeles Clippers in theNBA Robert Rose (born
December 27 1964 , inRochester, New York ) is a retired American /Australian professionalbasketball player in theAustralia n National Basketball League.Rose played 2 games in the
NBA for theLos Angeles Clippers in the 1988-89 season after signing a 10-day contract. He played just 3 minutes. [http://www.basketball-reference.com/fc/gl.cgi?player=rosero01&year=1989] He began his NBL career in 1992 with theSouth-East Melbourne Magic , leading his team to the championship - which is still his only one. The next year Rose would average 19 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds on his way to the National Basketball League MVP.After a two year and a three year stint with the
Adelaide 36ers andCanberra Cannons respectively Rose's career was somewhat diminishing, although his spectacular stats would not suggest such a thing. After not enjoying post season success with the Cannons in the 1998 season Rose signed with the strugglingNorth Queensland team of theTownsville Crocodiles . Rose would turn the franchise around captaining them to the semi-finals and grand final in the 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 seasons. Rose capped off his team's performance by winning his second league MVP award. However the Crocodiles would be defeated by theWollongong Hawks in the deciding game three of the grand final series. After the 2005-2006 season, at age 42, the Crocodiles decided not to renew Rose's contract. He then signed with North Queensland rivals the
Cairns Taipans for the 2006-2007 season.Rose currently resides in
Townsville and is retired from professional basketball. He now coaches the Townsville QABL basketball team called the 'Heat'. He is married to his wife Patricia, and has two children, Nicolas and Jacob. Robert and Patricia plan on opening a wine bar in the Townsville area, with the most exclusive cellar-door wines for good prices. Nicolas is very interested in American Football (gridiron), and Jacob enjoys playing basketball.References
