FulhamPhil Kelso (1871 – February 1935) was a Scottish football player and manager.
He was born in
Largs on theFirth of Clyde and was a coach at Hibernian, before taking over as manager of newly-promoted Woolwich Arsenal from 1904 until 1908. He took the side to two consecutiveFA Cup semi-finals but failed to make much of a challenge in the League. Following his departure from Arsenal, he briefly returned to Scotland to manage ahotel but was tempted back down south to become manager of Fulham in 1909. He stayed with the Cottagers for 15 years, making him their longest-serving manager. After retiring from football he ran a couple of pubs in theHammersmith area and was chairman of theFootball League Managers and Secretaries Association . He died in 1935, aged 63.
