Owned by Atlassian Software Systems, FishEye is a revision control browser and search engine. Although FishEye is a commercial product, it is freely available to open source projects and non-profit institutions. In addition to the standard search and diff capabilities it provides:
* notion of changelog and changesets (even if the underlying version control system does not support this, e.g. CVS).
* direct, resource-based URLs down to the line number
* monitoring and user-level notifications via e-mail or RSS

Use in Open Source Projects

Free licenses are approved for community and open source installations by Atlassian [ [http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/licensing.jsp#nonprofit Atlassian Community & Open Source licenses] ] under certain conditions. Many major open source projects use FishEye to provide a front-end for the source code repository:

Atlassian and Contegix provide a hosting service for several open source projects [ [http://www.atlassian.com/software/fisheye/hosting.jsp Description] , [http://fisheye.cenqua.com/ fisheye.cenqua.com] ] . For large developer communities dedicated instances are available to the public, either self-hosted or provided by the hosting service:

Integration

Currently it supports integration with the following revision control systems [ [http://www.atlassian.com/software/fisheye/features/integration.jsp FishEye source control integration] ] : SVN, CVS, Perforce. Due to the resource-based URLs, it is possible to integrate FishEye with different issue and bug tracking systems. It also provides a REST and XML RPC API.
