The Ministry of Urban Development , a branch of the Government of India, is the apex body for formulation and administration of the rules and regulations and laws relating to the housing and urban development in India. As of February 2011, head of the ministry is the Cabinet Minister Kamal Nath.[1] and the Minister of State is Shri Saugata Roy[2]
The Ministry was attached on and off with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation on many occasions, before finally becoming independent in 2004.[3]
