Hannover Bridge

Hannover Bridge

The "Hannover Bridge" is one of the largest container vessels of the world. It is registered in Panama, in spite of the Japanese ship-owner and German name.

The ship carries containers, which is the fastest developing sector in cargo shipping. Hannover Bridge was built in 2006 in the Japan ship-yard IHR-Kure. The ship can carry 8,212 TEUs according to company requirements, but IMO claims that the vessel's capacity is larger than ten thousand. The company, which operates with Hannover Bridge, is the K-Line Group, and its container shipping sector. The company has 55 container ships, and with this capacity is one of the big players on the market. The gross tonnage of Hannover Bridge is 98,747 metric tons, the length of the vessel is 336 metres, and the length of the beam is 46 metres. These measurements make this vessel one of the most well-known ships in the world.

The vessel's main diesel engine is a Daewoo and allows to the ship to reach a maximum speed of 24 knots. The cruising speed of Hannover Bridge is 21 knots and the economy one is 20.5 knots. All these speeds are reached with more than 20% lower comsumption of heavy fuel. The emissions of CO2 are decreased in the new innovated diesel engine, which is good for the environment.
