Joseph Rothschild (1931 - January 30, 2000) was an
American Jewish professor of history and political science atColumbia University and an expert on European history, particularly ofCentral Europe andEast Europe .Joseph Rothschild a member of the
Academy of Political Science , theAmerican Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies , thePolish Institute of Arts and Sciences of America andPhi Beta Kappa . He also served on theeditorial board s ofPolitical Science Quarterly andMiddle East Review . He a also member of the Commission on International Affairs for theAmerican Jewish Congress beginning in 1985, and from 1975-1990 he was the national vice chairman of the American Professors for Peace in the Middle East.elected works
