Ernest Weekley

Ernest Weekley

Ernest Weekley (1865-1954) was a British philologist. From 1898 to 1938 he was Professor of Modern Languages at the University of Nottingham. One of his pupils D. H. Lawrence eloped with his wife, Frieda and married her.

Ernest Weekley was the author of a number of works on etymology.
