William Adam (1909 — 1988) was a Belgian malacologist who specialised in cephalopods. [van Goethem, J.L. 1989. In memoriam: William Adam, 1909–1988. "Basteria" 53(1–3): 25–27.] Adam described a number of cuttlefish and bobtail squid species, including "Euprymna hoylei", "Sepia cottoni", "Sepia dollfusi", "Sepia dubia", "Sepia reesi", "Sepia sewelli", "Sepia thurstoni", "Sepia vercoi", and "Sepiola knudseni".
