Shipley is a small village in Derbyshire near Heanor and Marlpool.

History

The Nutbrook Canal under an Act of Parliament of 1793 was completed in 1796. Designed by William Jessop with Benjamin Outram as engineer.cite web|url=http://www.canals.btinternet.co.uk/canals/nutbrook.htm|author=P. Hardcastle|title=Nutbrook Canal] it linked Shipley to the Erewash Canal.
