Nina Beier, Danish artist based in London, was born in
Denmark . She graduated from theRoyal College of Art ,London in 2004. During her studies at RCA she took part in the making of the bookJanFamily 'Plans for other days' and started collaborating withMarie Lund as 'Nina Jan Beier and Marie Jan Lund'.The work of Nina Beier and Marie Lund derives from a shared fascination with group dynamics and the relations between people, be they awkward, fervent, polite or tender. Through creating situations with a simple set of instructions, the artists play with social customs and allow instinctive human reactions to be observed in their plainest form.
Nina Beier and Marie Lund have held regular solo shows at M+R Gallery in London and in V1 Gallery in Copenhagen and larger solo shows at art spaces such as Spacex Gallery in Exeter, Åarhus Center for Contemporary Art and Overgaden- Institute of Contemporary Art in Denmark. Groupshows include ‘From a Distance’ curated by Vincent Honoré at Wallspace, New York, ‘This is a gettogether’ at Skuc Gallery,
Ljubljana , ‘Abstract Things’, curated by Harrell Fletcher at Laura Bartlett Gallery, London, ‘Collectivity’ at YBCA,San Francisco , ‘Laughing in a Foreign Language’ curated by Mami Kataoka atHayward Gallery , the Jiri Kovanda show "When I Was a Little Boy I Played with Girls" in GalleryKlatovy and 'Participation' at Gallery Martin Janda in Vienna. They have made a large-scale staging as part of the event programme Actions and Interruptions curated by Catherine Wood inTate Modern and events for Late atTate Britain .External links
