Felix Lewandowsky (
October 1 ,1879 -October 31 ,1921 ) was a Germandermatologist who was a native ofHamburg .In 1902 he earned his doctorate at
Strassburg , and from 1903 until 1907 he worked at the dermatological clinic inBern where he was an assistant toJosef Jadassohn (1863-1936). Afterwards he returned to Hamburg where he worked inEduard Arning ’s (1855-1936) department at St. Georg's Hospital. In 1917 he was appointed director of the dermatological clinic atBasel .Lewandowsky specialized in the study of
tuberculosis and infantile skin diseases, and in 1916 published an important work on tuberculosis of the skin titled "Die Tuberkulose der Haut". With Dr. Jadassohn he described an ectodermaldysplasia now known as "Jadassohn-Lewandowsky syndrome", and just prior to his death he describedepidermodysplasia verruciformis , a rare skin disease sometimes known as "Lewandowsky-Lutz dysplasia" (named along with dermatologist Wilhelm Lutz 1888-1958).References
