Monastiraki or Monastirion (English: Monastery) station is an interchange station of the Attiko Metro Blue Line (Line 3) and the ISAP Green Line 1. The original surface station of Line 1 opened in May 17, 1895. It became an interchange point of the network when the underground station of Line 3 opened in April 22, 2003. It is located in the historic center of Athens, near the neighborhood of Plaka. The station is right beneath the Acropolis and next to the site of the Ancient Agora of Athens.
