Beechwood High School is a 6 year 7-12th grade high school, located in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky.

General information

Beechwood High School is Independent, thus it is the only school that is run by the superintendent. This school is a small scale school with approximately 70 students in each graduating class. Glen Miller, the superintendent, states that "Beechwood’s small class sizes, strong parental involvement, exceptional faculty, and dedicated Board of Education serve as the foundation to our exemplary academic programs and high student achievement. We strongly believe at Beechwood, that every child is important, every child has potential, and every child is somebody. This strong conviction and belief serve as the inspiration behind our district goal of guiding all students down a pathway of excellence so they may find greatness in the end." The school's mascots are the Beechwood Tiger and Tina.

Awards and recognition

This school has been frequently ranked high in the state on the CATS tests. Also they have received "What Parents Want" award, the Commonwealth of Kentucky Quality Award, the First Place OASIS (Outstanding Achievement in School Information Services) Award, and was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Also they have been ranked one of best high schools in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. Retrieved on 2008-05-10.] They have also received the title of Class A football State Champions 10 times, and the marching band has been crowned state champion twice in 1990 and most recently in 2006. They have received second place in 2005 and 2007. The also won BOA, Bands of America, Class 'A' in 2006.

Athletics

The School currently has the following teams: Football, Girls' track, Boys' and Girls Basketball, Fastpitch Softball, Girls' and Boys' swimming, Boys' and Girls' Golf, Boys' and Girls' Tennis, Volleyballs, and Girls' Soccer.

Facilities

Currently there are two science labs, two computer labs, a gymnasium, a commons/lunchroom, two baseball/softball fields, a band room, and an artificial turf football field. Also the school has facilities to teach Spanish, French, and Latin.
