Sidney Mashbir

Sidney F. Mashbir was a US Army officer.

Mashbir got into World War I as an officer in the Arizona National Guard. After serving in the Army during World War I, Mashbir was sent to Japan as an Assistant Military Attaché and Japanese language student in 1920. He resigned his commission in 1923 and joined the reserves.

He was called to active duty for World War II. Colonel Mashbir organized and commanded the translation section of General MacArthur's staff.

Mashbir published a memoir describing his military career in "I Was an American Spy" (New York: Vantage, 1953).

Mashbir is a member of the Military Intelligence Hall of Fame.
