Lajos Kozma (b.
1938 ) is an Hungarian operatictenor , particularly associated with lyric Italian roles,baroque operas andoratorio s.Born in
Lepsény ,Hungary , he studied at theFranz Liszt Academy in Budapest, and made his debut at theBudapest Opera in 1962, where he won considerable acclaim as Pelléas inDebussy 's "Pelléas et Mélisande ". In 1963, he went to Italy to further his studies at theAccademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, with Giorgio Favaretto andFranco Capuana . Beginning in 1964, he sang widely in Italy, appearing inBologna ,Venice ,Florence ,Trieste ,Palermo , at theRome Opera , atLa Scala in Milan, and theSan Carlo in Naples.His career quickly became international with guest appearances at the
Vienna State Opera , theRoyal Opera House in London,La Monnaie in Brussels,Amsterdam ,Copenhagen ,Philadelphia , and theNew York City Opera .He also appeared at the
Salzburg Festival and theAix-en-Provence Festival , notably as Ferrando in "Cosi fan tutte ".Other notable roles includedMonteverdi 's "L'Orfeo ",Vivaldi 's "Orlando furioso",Stravinsky 's "Oedipus Rex", he createdRenzo Rossellini 's "La Reine morte", at theMonte Carlo Opera in 1973.In 1971, he appeared in a film version of "
Lucia di Lammermoor ", oppositeAnna Moffo , which has been released on DVD.ources
