Joakim Gruev

Joakim Gruev ( _bg. Йоаким Груев) was a Bulgarian enlightener, teacher, pedagogue and translator. He was born on 9 September 1828 in the town of Koprivshtitsa. He was a teacher in his home town and later the most prestigious Bulgarian high school in Plovdiv. He wrote a number of textbooks and was the person to suggest that 24 May shall be celebrated as the day of St St Cyril and Methodius in 1858.

He died in 1912.
