Jared Fernandes

Jared Fernandes is an American Singer-songwriter born and raised in Natick, Massachusetts. [The Natick Tab 2/2/1999] , a suburb of Boston. His current focus revolves primarily around an acoustic guitar, however he is a diverse artist with multiple talents and often delves into genres including folk, jazz, reggae, and hip hop.

Background

Fernandes went to high school at Natick High School before transferring to Noble and Greenough School [The Daily Transcript 10/20/1994] in Dedham, Massachusetts. In 1995, he studied at Trinity College [The Natick Bulletin, 10/29/98] in Hartford, Ct, graduating with a degree in English.In 2000, Fernandes moved to a studio in Flatbush, Brooklyn where using a four track he created hip-hop tracks and sold them in cassette form. Soon after he purchased a guitar and started playing covers of Simon and Garfunkel tracks. After 9/11, Fernandes could be found on the subway platforms, collaborating with fellow musician Dan Weinstein, playing covers and some originals, despite the presence of armed soldiers, protecting the trains.
One of Fernandes’ first acoustic songs was picked to be on a compilation album that was sent out with the magazine ‘Micstand’.In 2002, Fernandes moved to Queens and continued to write and record songs acoustically, temporarily halting his focus on writing hip hop songs.
In 2004, Fernandes moved to New Jersey where he currently resides. In October, of 2006, a song “Sophia”, written for his daughter was selected for placement on a Compilation album, Quickstar Productions presents Chill out Vol 5. 2/10(two-tenths), Fernandes first album was released digitally on May 17th, 2008. The album contains 11 acoustic songs. Fernandes is currently working on his next studio album.
