"I Wanna Live in a Dream in My Record Machine" is a song by British rock band Oasis. The song was written by Noel Gallagher in 2002, and was recorded in 2004 during the "Don't Believe the Truth" recording sessions. Though considered for inclusion, it was kept off the album in the end.
In interivews, Noel described the song as being about buying records and being "about 10 minutes long and it's big, psychedelic, loads of guitar solos, but it's good though, the lyrics are good." [BBC Radio 2 interview, broadcast on October 26, 2002] He's also said it's like Led Zeppelin doing The Beatles [Fast Forward interview, broadcast on October 4, 2002] and "it's kind of like a "Champagne Supernova" thing." [NME interview, January 3, 2007 edition] The song was first mentioned by Noel in Japanese interviews in September 2002 and in September 2005 to a Canadian radio station, he mentioned that it was "on the backburner." On May 6, 2008, an early studio performance of the song leaked onto the Internet on various Oasis fan sites. It will not be included on Oasis' seventh studio album, Dig Out Your Soul.
