Bulgaria from October 1014 to August or September 1015. He was the son ofSamuil of Bulgaria , and he came to the throne following his father's death.Around the same time that Emperor
Basil II captured the bulk of Samuil's army, Gavril and his forces defeated the army of Teofilakt Votaniat. Having inherited Samuil's war with theByzantine Empire , Gavril Radomir raided Byzantine territory, reaching as far asConstantinople . Unfortunately for him, however, the Byzantines secured the assistance of his cousin Ivan Vladislav, whose life Radomir had once saved. Ivan murdered Radomir while hunting nearOstrovo , and then took the throne for himself.Gavril Radomir married twice. Gavril Radomir's son,
Peter (II) Delyan of Bulgaria , would play a role in attempting to secure independence for Bulgaria several decades later. He is one of the candidates suggested to be father ofAgatha, wife of Edward the Exile .Family tree
