The Journal of Physiology

Established in 1878, "The Journal of Physiology" is a fortnightly peer-reviewed scientific research journal published on behalf of the The Physiological Society.
The Journal considers original research papers in all areas of physiology provided they illustrate new physiological principles or mechanisms. Papers on work at the molecular level, at the level of the cell membrane, single cells, tissues or organs and systems physiology are all published, with an emphasis on human and mammalian physiology. The Journal publishes all accepted "in press" articles online ahead of print.
Access policy: all articles become freely accessible 12 months after publication1, 2.
