wetland reserve managed by theWildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) atCastle Espie on the banks ofStrangford Lough inComber ,Northern Ireland . It is part of the Strangford LoughRamsar Site . It provides an overwintering site for almost the entire population of Pale-bellied Brent Geese.The "Castle" which gave the reserve its name no longer exists.Facilities
In addition to the reserve the site contains a Coffee shop, gift and book shop, an exhibition area, hides, woodland walks, guided walks for groups (by prior arrangement), events and activities, free parking, and a picnic area. However dogs are not allowed in WWT Centres except guide dogs.
Location
WWT Castle Espie is located on Strangford Lough, three miles south of Comber and thirteen miles south-east of Belfast. Signposted from the A22 Comber-Killyleagh-Downpatrick road.
