- Arvid Kubbel

Arvid Kubbel (12 September 1889–1938) was a Russian chess player and composer.[1]
He was a brother of Evgeny and Leonid Kubbel. He tied for 5-7th at Moscow 1920 (the 1st Soviet Chess Championship, Alexander Alekhine won), took 6th at Petrograd 1923 (the 2nd USSR-ch, Peter Romanovsky won), took 5th in Leningrad City Chess Championship 1924 (Grigory Levenfish won), tied for 11-13th at Leningrad 1925 (the 4th USSR-ch, Efim Bogoljubow won),[2] and tied for 8-9th in Leningrad City-ch 1928 (Ilya Rabinovich won).[3]
In 1938, he died of nephritis in a Soviet gulag.[4][5]
