Radio Cool Again? |first=Michael |last=Hood]

Early in his radio Career, Burbank was a producer for the Kirby Wilbur show, a conservative talk show in Seattle. He also worked with ex-"Seattle Times" columnist Michelle Malkin. Burbank was featured in a promo in which a caller accused him of being a secret spy. The caller claimed that Burbank was a former U.S. Customs agent who was a frequent caller to the Art Bell's Coast to Coast radio show known as "Charlie, liberal from California."

In July 2006, he became a panelist on the radio game show "Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!". He substituted as host for Peter Sagal for some weeks while Sagal finished his book, and fills in whenever Sagal takes a vacation.cite news |title=NPR host proves what falls down can pop back up |date=2006-08-11 |work=Seattle Post-Intelligencer |url=http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/paynter/280831_paynt11.html |first=Susan |last=Panyter] His trademark sound is when the audience shout "Luke!" as the show comes back from break.

Burbank was the co-host of National Public Radio's morning show "The Bryant Park Project", along with Alison Stewart, at its inception.cite news |work=The Seattle Times |title=Homegrown NPR host quits radio gig |url=http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2004012832_burbank14.html |first=Florangela |last=Davila |date=2007-11-14] "The Bryant Park Project" struggled with low ratings on NPR stations and Burbank left the show in mid-December 2007 "in order to spend more time with his daughter" in Seattle. His last appearance on the program was on December 14, 2007. He was previously a freelance reporter for other NPR shows such as "All Things Considered", "This American Life", and "Morning Edition".. After leaving NPR and returning to Seattle, Burbank was approached by 710 KIRO to host a radio show that appealed to a younger audience who would not normally listen to talk-radio. Burbank accepted, and Too Beautiful to Live was born. Burbank hosts the show with help from producer Jennifer Andrews and engineer Sean De Tore.
