Vladimir Antonovich Dybo (Russian: Владимир Антонович Дыбо; born
30 April 1930 ) is aRussia nlinguist whose areas of research include theSlavic languages , Indo-European, Nostratic, and Nilo-Saharan.Dybo is known for his reconstruction of Balto-Slavic
accentuation , the first ever attempted. He has subscribed to theNostratic hypothesis and established theIllich-Svitych Nostratic Seminar in Moscow. Dybo is the head of the Department of Slavic Languages in the Faculty of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics at theRussian State University for the Humanities , as well as a corresponding member of theRussian Academy of Sciences .His daughter
Anna V. Dybo (born 1958) has collaborated withSergei Starostin on anetymological dictionary of theAltaic languages , which encompasses some 3,000Proto-Altaic stems.ee also
