A. Leslie and Company

A. Leslie and Company was a shipbuilding company that was started in around 1853, based North-East England. The company later merged with the locomotive manufacturer R and W Hawthorn to create Hawthorn Leslie and Company in 1886 [cite web |url=http://www.edinphoto.org.uk/1_edin/1_edinburgh_history_-_recollections_hawthorn_shipbuilders_leith.htm |title=Hawthorn Shipbuilders |publisher=EdinPhoto |accessdate=2008-05-05] , when the founder Andrew Leslie retired.
